What I like about this perspective is that I think it captures something of the way we experience life. Having recently attended a high school reunion, I can sense that there was a previous edition of me. Hopefully, it is one that has changed for the better. I can remember previous editions, for example, where I was not particularly happy and blamed it on my circumstances or on other people (Don McLean's one line description of his younger self in American Pie comes to mind). In my current edition I see now that the problem was mainly me. Then there are those pesky attributes that remain (how many times do I have to be described as "laid back?")
The opportunity in this idea, of course, is the ability to gain some perspective as well as to work towards the self that you would like to be. Since a new edition is going to come out, make sure that it is a good one.
